Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund collection, 1984-2006.

This collection contains documents that outline the creation and operation of the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Inc. and its process of building and maintaining the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial. These include the minutes and associated documents of the KVVMF board meetings, correspondence with designer, tax and audit documents and reports and the contents of the general files of KVVMF. Also included in this collection are the personal items left by visitors at the memorial in commemoration of family, friends, and American soldiers who gave their lives during the Vietnam War. These include letters, drawings, poster boards, newspaper clippings, personal reflections and personal photographs.

The Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Inc. was founded in the early 1980s by Ronald D. Ray and other Kentucky Vietnam veterans. In 1984, the KVVMF was encouraged by Governor Martha Lane Collins and the state legislature to design and raise the necessary funds for the memorial/monument dedicated to the Kentuckians who gave their lives in the Vietnam War.
